This is a great song, but it does not translate well live.

It's the audio that doesn't sound good.

The best part of the song was BUTCHERED with a flugelhorn!?

Agree... strange timing and chord changes... was the horn necessary?

Nah, Jesse. I'm not sure whose idea it was, Carl's (the player himself) or Tommy Byrnes (guitarist and also musical director for a while now).. etc. If you've probably listened to the studio version by now you can hear what the flugelhorn is trying to accentuate .. it's a nicely-layered solo in the studio version.. which shouldn't require more then 1) Tommy playing lead [he was on the album] 2) Billy's new rhythm player as seen here harmonizing .. and just get Mark Rivera [sax] on rhythm. All Tommy is doing during the verses is droning those C5, F5's over and over. The strings go C+B, C+Bb, C+A (and back up and down etc) during the verse. Then it's just basically a 1 4 5 in G for the chorus. The bridge is what actually makes it interesting, but the flugelhorn makes it sounds like bad casino Jazz. lol..
